The Sass Approach

  • After reviewing information submitted through our Contact Form or phone call, a member of our Sales and Design team will call you within 48 hours. We'll ask a number of questions regarding your remodeling dreams, time frame, budget, etc. to determine how we can best assist you.  The next step would be to set up an appointment to inspect the project at your home. If we are not the appropriate provider for your project, we may be able to give you a referral.
  • After the meeting, depending on your needs, an agreement for design and/or proposal preparation services may be the next step.
  • With that pre-construction work underway, your remodeling project is well on the road to becoming a reality!

Once plans are drawn and approved, a thorough scope of work and a firm cost are prepared; we're ready to get to work! Using our years of experience, we've devised a step-by-step process that helps ensure that your project runs as smoothly as possible.

  1. Project Review: Before any work begins, it is important that you review and make sure you understand everything about your project. You will be asked to sign off on all drawings and selections. You are encouraged to contact the salesperson to express any concerns or questions before the walk-through.  An "internal" meeting will be held at your home with your salesperson and the lead carpenter which gives them the opportunity to discuss your project in detail.

  2. Job Site Communication Book: Before your project begins, we will provide you with a binder which allows you to easily store project documents in one place.  This is the best place to write daily communications to your lead carpenter, and your lead carpenter will do the same.

  3. Turning Over Your Project: We start with a pre-construction walk-through, which is a crucial step for Sass Construction and for you. At this meeting, your salesperson, and our production manager or lead carpenter will meet with you in your home. During this transition period, the salesperson "turns over the project" to the production team.

This is when the Lead Carpenter or Production Manager will address the logistical aspects of running your project. During this time we will address important issues such as where to store tools, a designated central message center location and other related issues. Sass Construction will discuss these issues and more with you as thoroughly as possible, so that you will have as few surprises as possible once construction is underway.

  4. Billing Procedures: Progress payments are detailed in the payment schedule of your contract. We will send you invoices approximately one week before the due date as a reminder, so that you will be able to manage your funds accordingly.

  5. Change Orders: Once the project is underway, any change to the scope of work will be documented and approved in a change order. We don't present surprise bills for extra work at the end of the project. Because we try to be as thorough as possible when putting our proposal together, change orders are usually caused by one of three events: hidden conditions, building inspector requests, or client changes to the original proposal.  All change orders must be signed prior and paid prior to the work being completed.  Change orders may be issued by your Lead Carpenter on site, or for larger changes, issued by your Salesperson.

  6. Let's Get To Work: Once work is underway, we'll begin a new chapter in our relationship. It is during this first phase that demolition is taking place, and you'll be excited as you see changes daily.

  7. What's Happening? After the initial demolition and framing takes place, the project may seem to slow down while much of the utility work is being done, which is not as dramatic. The changes will not be as visible, but take heart - we're keeping up the pace!

  8. Your Project Takes Shape: Next, as the drywall starts to go up, and your project begins to take shape. You're likely to feel excited about your remodel again, although you may be feeling like those workers will never leave....

  9. The Final Stage: While the final finishes are being installed and painting takes place, you'll begin to really get excited about living in and using your brand new space!

  10. Job Clean Up: All during construction we keep the site as neat and clean as possible. At the end of the job, the work area may be professionally cleaned.

  11. Project Completion: After your project is completed, we want you to evaluate the services we delivered to you. We have a questionnaire that we'd like you to fill out, and we look forward to your written comments as well.

Even after your project is actually completed, our work is not done. Approximately one month after completion of your project, Sass Construction will schedule a call to your home to ensure that what we delivered is what we promised.
